Because of social media, marginalised folk can express themselves in a way that was not possible before. That means shitty behaviour, comments & remarks don’t fly like they used to. This applies to not only the wealthy or industry leaders but anyone whose privilege has historically shielded them from public scrutiny. Because such people can’t handle this cultural shift, they propagate phrases like “cancel culture” to delegitimise criticism. Also, follow the money.
